The féria and Les Halles
A major southern gathering, the Pentecost féria takes over Nîmes for five days: bodegas, concerts, shows in the Arena, parading bandas. The mood is electric but never tense. Away from the féria, Les Halles delight food lovers from early morning: creamy brandade, olives, pélardon cheeses, local cured meats and a sharp coffee to round off the visit.
Carré d’Art and old town
Facing the Maison Carrée, the Norman Foster-designed Carré d’Art houses a contemporary art museum and a sunlit media library. A successful dialogue between ancient and modern. A short walk away, Place aux Herbes, Rue de la Madeleine and its mansions form an elegant old town, ideal for an aimless stroll that always ends somewhere around a drink.
Costières, garrigue and pleasures of the senses
Around Nîmes, the Costières de Nîmes AOC produces fruity reds and fresh rosés, perfect for summer. The garrigue perfumes the surrounding hills. On Lyad, Nîmes members share their favourite tables and cellars; it is up to you to find someone to taste the treasures of the land with.
